Gandalf the Grey

A better scan of my Gandalf mini. This pic has quite a few scanning artifacts. The bottom of his cloak is not darker than the rest and there are small white spots on his staff, hat and cloak which have come from the scan and are not in fact spots that I have missed! I have gone for natural highlighting and shading on my LOTR minis which makes them look quite muted in scans.

The beard is awesome. The face and hand are vary well done. I think it would have been better if it *were* darker and dirtier at the bottom, with a little more grime in the grooves of the staff as well. In the movie, Gandalf seemed much dingier than I thought he'd be--likely to have twigs in his beard.

Thanks guys, a lot of comments regarding the face. The faces on these LOTR minis are challenging to paint because they are actually in scale! Those who paint Ral Partha and Grenadier minis will be familiar with this scale but I'm more used to the good old over-the-top GW faces. That said, I'm not sure that thinking he looks evilmeans that he should be rated well below tabletop standard ;^)
