WARHAMMER CHAOS LORD ON GOREBEAST DEAMONIC MOUNT (KARKADRAK)
UNIT - Chaos lord on deamonic mount. It might also "count as" Slaves of Darknes karkadrak BITS - Usual cherrypicking of bits from various kits. 5 of them, if I count correctly. :-) Some of them obvious (gorebeast from chariot, warlord from manticore), another more subtle (crest on the helmet is part of an axe from blood warriors). CONVERSION - The gorebeast got a tail. I thought it would make the model more balanced and that the gorebeast will look more like a riding mount than with the original tailless „gorilla“ stature. :-) The saddle was not original idea, but a forced necessity. The gorebeast has quite broad back, so the warlord had to spread the legs much more than the original model is designed. And even then he still sits high in the air above the gorebest’s back. So I ended up having to sculpt a huge saddle to fill that empty space between. But turning obstacles to opurtunity, it turned out quite well, giving the whole model kinda throne/royal vibe. :-) PAINTING - I painted whole model in one piece, already assembled (except the shield). This obviously was not planned. :-) But when I sculpted the saddle, the greenstuff actually held the rider so firm, that I was not able to remove him without braking the whole thing. :-) It was quite challengable to paint rider sitting on beefy mount with horns and spikes and tail pointing in all directions. :-) I stuck with the very limited palette of colors, but added many freehand runes and decoration on his armour, to make him look more antient and appropriately warlordish… :-) Let me know what you think! :-)
