First Mini for 18 years, trying to learn new techniques like blending and NMM(not for this one). The picture does not show it in it's best light. Comments please

I've got to echo both Rachel & stresingj' s comments there is nothing fundamentaly wrong with your painting. it just needs to go a step higher on certain areas. The skintone is good but needs just a small amount of highlighting. As has been said the basics are all there, just a bit more practise and you'll be winning. :)

This is a nice tidy mini, but I have a couple of suggestions that may help with some stuff. The coverage of the metal on his blades looks a bit patchy - it looks like you may have drybrushed it, and for a smooth surface metal tends to look better thinned and painted in layers. With a bit of ink or paint its not so hard to get the engraved bits on Celtos swords back into prominence. I would also suggest highlighting the red more - it looks quite one-colour ish and is blending into the brownlining between his robe and legs. Ditto on the pouch, a few brighter highlights around the edges would make it stand out more from the cloth behind it. His skin looks very good though. It is quite hard to see properly with the small pics however - I'd go for something bigger and have a play with an image editor of some kind to brighten the pics up a bit. Overall though he's pretty good, and I'm impressed after such a long holiday from painting :) . Keep it up!

I'd give it a 5.5. You have a good grasp of the fundamentals. Keep practicing.
