1) Do NOT highlight black with white. Either use a very dark grey or a mix of black, blue, and grey.
2) Shade red with either a darker shade of red or mix a little bit of purple with it. Highlight it bu working around the color wheel towards yellow. If you mix white with it, it just turns pink.
