Shadow & Flame (collage)
My latest is the Balrog from Steve West at Cellar Cast. It measures 14 inches across ... I'm not sure what scale that makes it. It's my understanding that Steve based this sculpt directly from the maquette used by Weta when making the LOTR movies. I felt incredibly lucky when I picked this up not too long ago ... on the back, it's marked number 3 from the molds ... pretty cool!!! I've been working on my fire techniques lately all towards the end of painting this bad boy with the best fire I could create. Oh, and I figured people would ask about if I used lights etc to get the effects ... nope. All hand-brushed using acrylics and inks. I've even included a picture of my light setup when I took the pictures. 3 little desk lamps with 60W Reveal bulbs ... nothing else. You can see the pic on my web-site at the link listed below.
