Romero, the Cat
Available at Fernando Ruiz Miniatures - ferminiatures.com Sculpted and Painted by myself ------------- Romero was born in the harbor district, the son of a prostitute and a sailor. Thus fate would have it that he grew up in an orphanage. He quickly learned that there were only two qualities in life that would help him survive, strength or intelligence. Since he was not blessed with the former, he quickly adapted. He moved in the shadows, playing tag at night with the cats and exploring the city’s dark alleyways and rooftops, always away from the hustle and bustle of the others. One day while he tried to steal some bread from the market, he overheard a conversation between a jeweler and some guardsmen. He insisted that the Thieves Guild stole some of his most precious gems. The guardsmen laughed and joked about the jeweler. They claimed he drank too much mead or smoked too much in his herb pipe. “The Thieves Guild? You believe in such nonsense? It’s just a legend old man!” said one of the guards. The Thieves Guild is something that most people don’t know about. Those who know try to avoid talking about it. Directly below the city, in the sewers, those that didn’t manage to find a place in normal society roam freely. Away from the streets and everyday life, there’s another world with its own rules. There, the people that are shunned by others, the outcasts of society, live every day in a struggle for survival. This is the home of the Thieves Guild. They form a group like a family, whose bonds are surpassed only by their cunning… After that day, Romero made it his mission to find this group and learn more and more about it. Asking the right questions to the right people, mostly homeless and beggars that function as spies on the surface for the Guild, he slowly found out what he wanted to know. Three months have passed and today he finally made it. He stands in front of Guild Master Zak for his trial to begin…
