Kappa & Namazu netsuke
This was a extremely limited charity piece sculpted by Jason Wiebe and cast in resin for the relief effort for the 2011 Tōhoku Japan earthquake and tsunami. It depicts the mischievous Kappa riding the giant subterranean catfish Namazu, thus disturbing the anchoring rock of the landmass above causing earthquakes and tsunami. This was a fun piece due to the research of the mythos and especially the comical "oh sh*t" expression on the kappa. I went for big eyes and bright colours to give it a bright anime feel.
