LPS Knight of Balance

My entry for the "Last Painter Standing" contest on the miniatures page. I was going for a "predator" type of camoflague on the coat. I have several views so hopefully you can see how the camo moves with the figure, even though it is not actually changing. I put a lot of planning into how I did the plants and trees so that no matter where you looked, it would always look as though it was meant to be seen from that viewpoint. The cloak is deliberately gritty and the assassin himself is purposely smooth and well defined. It helps make the figure look like he is "stepping out" from the jungle around him. Hope you like and please comment.

The trick is to use a couple of Perspective lines so you have something to refer back too. I made a couple of "x"s on the base so I would always be able to return to the exact same view and continue my painting. Using darf flat colors for the background and bright colors for the close up objects really helps set the contrast. the rest is planning with the base and surroundings so when you are painting, you know what you are trying to blend into. Sort of off topic, I am really having difficulty getting a grip on what consitutes a really good paint job here. I am hoping more peole will critique and comment so I can get a better idea as to what rates. Thus far my impression is that it has to be NMM or SENMM or it just does'nt cut it. Most of what I do is to try to paint realisticly and stay away from the highly reflective stuff. Not to say that I can't do it or it does'nt have its place, but I have a hard time visualizing everything all bright and shiny chrome. Most of what I do is much more subtle, and I guess it does'nt come through inthe photos. Thanks

No Such Agency
Pretty good "cloaking"/thermoptic camouflage effect. I've been wanting to try that effect with a Space Marine Scout but I'm somewhat daunted by trying to make it look good from more than one angle...
