I think that you should make the base bigger, it looks like he's surfing on whitewater. ;) Also, the colors you chose are good, but to bring this figure to life try washing his skin with a watery blue. Then re-highlight it with the base color on up. That should add some contrast and shading to this big mini. Same goes for his axe, a black ink wash followed by re-higlighting with silver or silver mixed with black would add a nice effect. Also I just noticed that his hair could look better with some highlighting up to very pale yellow. These techniques would really help to give your minis that extra spark.
Sorry....sant really see your snow effect...as the camera has focused on his face...the rest is blurred.
It looks like a nice piece though..good colour selection and nice details. How about reposting another picture and let us see this work in all its glory!
