The face is in shadow due to the priciples of zenith al lighting the head is pointed down meaning not much light catches here in this particular model he's dead on in how shadows play in the face excellent job here.

I think the mini as a whole would be better served if the face was not in shadow, the bright lighting on the chest distracts from the face, and we as humans use the face to find connection.
