Legolas and Gimli on Horseback

This was my entry for the LOTR single category at the Sydney 2003 Games Day. I basically went out and picked the most complicated mini in the LOTR range for my entry, I figured there might be a few balrogs this year and maybe some Nazgul on wraiths so I went with fine detail instead. There turned out to be a hell of a lot of detail that needed to be done free hand on these 2 as I found out researching pics of them. Gimli has a lot of knotwork on his clothes and axe handles as well as a lot of fine filgree and scales in his armour - most of which wasn't sculpted on. Legolas was almost simple in comparison that is until I noticed the vine patterns that are on his tunic, bracers and boots. I had a bit of a play with some white ink and a 5/0 liner brush for these. Well that's all really, it was worth the effort in the end as it's a really nice display mini. Oh and it took Gold for the category too :D
