Fire Elemental

I have always really liked this model and bought it ages ago but it sat in its blister until now! After seeing some of the fire-painting techniques on this site I thought I would attempt reverse-highlighting the flames with yellow in the recesses blending out to a smokey red. Comments are most welcome!

Thanks everyone. this was my first attempt at this kind of flames and i would have liked to have the core much brighter, more glowing white hot. but i had some trouble getting the colours looking right so i decided to stop here and avoid ruining the whole thing. the claws have been painted, you can actually see highlite on them, unlike the stuff in the window of Orcs Nest, that makes me cringe. i think the armour could be better next time and the blue was taken from the original rackham colour scheme. i was going to use lighting effects but wanted to finish the model with in my (personal) dead line. i like the idea that he's coming out of the ground, it wasn't actually my intention but is a good idea, i just meant for him to be moving over the graound and burning it as he went, it does need a bigger base to show this well. cheers again.

As someone's said before, the fire isn't bright enough in the recesses and you've used too many reds. And I don't like the metal parts, especially the claws which look like they haven't been painted at all. The armour is okay but doesn't go with the blue which looks totally off to me. But the base is nice. I think your intention with the base was to make it look like the elemental has just broken through the ground? Great idea, but it doesn't really work on such a small base. The hole would have to be bigger and lots of rocks would lie around it and the earth and grass would be scorched, or perhaps even on fire still at places....now there's an idea for my own fire elemental! Thanks! *bustles off*
