This was a first attempt of mine to paint wood grain on a flat spear pole. It coudld use a little more contrasting colors but otherwise I am happy with it. Comments are welcome.
The woodgrain is flawless, IMO. The rest of the paintjob looks great too ... except, if you will allow me ... the brown trousers. Personally I would jhave gone for something more "cartoony" .... but that's only me
I think the wood grain on this spear is fantastic! I wish I could paint wood grain like that. I have been practicing with some pikemen and I am not even close to your ability. Very nice!
Voting on just the woodgrain, a definate 8. I think you really captured it. Very nice! The rest of the mini, I'd give a six. Its nice and neat, but compared to the woodgrain, its a little flat. Give the rest of it the attention you've obviously given to the woodgrain and the whole thing could be an 8!
