Typhus - Herald of Nurgle

I entered this mini at Games Day Baltimore 2003. It made first cut but ultimately died a slow miserable death there... It seems to me that "40K Single Mini" is an INCREDIBLY tough category to place in. But when you end up getting beaten by people like Jen Haley and Jason Richards it somehow doesn't seem that bad.... oh well there's always next year. While I really liked the original figure, I tried to incorporate some of the Typhus imagery that's in the Chaos Codex into my conversion. My biggest complaint is that I feel he's just a little bit too small. He should be at least as big if not bigger than the Logan Grimnar model, but such is not the case. Games Workshop hadn't released the color "Catachan Green" in time for me to try it, (typical) so I ended up using Polly-S Railroad colors for the bulk of the greens on the armor and the base. Everything else is a mess of GW, Vallejo, and Armory paints. This was also the first time a tried a better set of brushes - Vallejo Kolinsky Sable - and was definitely impressed by how much of difference a good brush makes as opposed to the garbage I usually end up using. Comments, suggestions, critiques, questions, or just general "hate-mail" is greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

very nice, but the base can mean the differnce between and awesome mini and an ok mini, and the base really really needs to be far better. other than that, its awesome, a solid 8.5

This herald is particularly wicked. The greens look great and non-GWish - perhaps it's the use of Polly-S paints. The only drawback is the image quality - it appears too dark making it difficult to pick out all the cool details.
