Yeah black is a bit tricky and it's tough to get a good contrast with shadows and highlights without first basecoating them dark grey which I try to avoid so I feel this method is the next best thing, still all good practice though, still learning :) Thanks for the constructive criticism mate
Although I feel the highlights are, IMHO, too great for my taste they are still wonderfully blended. Just my opinion of the highlights. Still very well painted.
