Model of the Red Duke from Warhammer Vampire Counts army. This is old miniature from 5th edition. I hope u like it and leave comment. I'm open to constructive criticism.
I'm very thankful for yours words. This is my first advance work and i will be better with next models. I must skill up simple technics... and concentrate at whole model, not only at favorite parts. Sometimes at work novice like me, turn on motto: "JuSt FiNisH iT!" and this is twisted bad idea.... My favorite goal is always freehand and banners - always banner outrank other parts of model. This must be fixed. Check out my others FH: http://www.fallensun.pl/modelarstwo_galeria.php
Right you asked for constructive crit here goes. Firstly there are some truly excellent sections of this mini the face is spot on with the palor and the veins. The free hand on the banner is epic lovely colour choice and the standard of the painting and detailing is of a competition standard just by itself it would easily be an 8/9 in my book. The nmm on the sword is very good as well though a little bit of glints and edge lining would make it pop ever so slightly more though this is a minor thing and you should be proud of the work you have done with it, just something to keep in mind for next time maybe.
Right areas for improvement the armour needs to be way more contrasted it needs to go from black to glints of white with your transition of colours in between. As it stands it is not of the same standard as the rest of the mini and as it covers such a large area it takes the overall down a bit. The banner pole needs painting it looks like you have just base coated it black you need to make sure everything is done, I know it is tempting to go arrr ffffff I've had enough but you got to do it. Also the red jewels on the armpit bit of the armour need more work they look too flat you need that contrast thing going on. The osl is good but I think the area it covers is too much and you need more contrast again the same for the cloth more contrast.
So all in all truly brilliant sections of mini but you need to go the whole hog and stick with it and make sure that all sections are painted to the same (extremely) high standard. Do that and you will easily swing and eight/nine on the scores and produce something of high competition standard with the obvious skill you have.
That sword looks amazing. The colors ove all look a little flat to me. Maybe a better photo? or one more round of highlight/low lights? I can tell this was a major endeavor for you. The freehand is incredible.
