T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) - Doctor Who, 30mm Scale

This 30mm scale TARDIS capsule is painted entirely in artists' oils and is representative of the TARDIS' appearance in the era of the 9th and 10th Doctors. I am planning to use it in a diorama featuring the 10th Doctor, Rose, and...well, eventually I'll post it here, so, I won't spoil the surprise. The TARDIS mini itself is from Ainsty Castings in the UK, and is featured in the Professor What line as a Constabulary Communications Cabinet. I am unfamiliar with this Professor What, but fortunately, he shares a sense of style with our second favorite Gallifreyan (Romana I is clearly the best), and I am able to use his conveyance as a stand-in for the Doctor's. O fortunate happenstance!

I painted it to look distressed, actually. The TARDIS goes through a lot, and the sort of spit and polish you see on it in the new series seems odd to me. I prefer the weathering of the classic version. But I think a large part of the problem here is the light bounce. There's a lot of lamp black mixed in there with the cobalt blue, and it reads on the photo as being rougher than it is. On the lettering, I just thought that it would be a more cartoonish feel to go freehand. When I eventually repost this in the context of the larger diorama I have to hope it will make more sense.

Amazing freehand lettering (honestly, I didn't even try - I used printed labels on mine!). I'm not gonna lie though, the blue seems pretty rough.
