Bridge of Sorrows
This is Ral Partha's Bridge of Sorrows, based on a painting by Dennis Beauvais. The original miniature came with the dragon, the centaur, the wizard, the damsel in the dragon's claw and part of a bridge. What I envisioned was grander, first a complete bridge with half of it crashed and collapsed by the dragon attack. The other side of the bridge would have a cobblestone path leading uphill to the bridge with a raised stone bowl with a fire in it to illuminate the path. But the most important part of my piece was the river of lava running under the bridge that i painted in the light source painting style, as well as the lightening attack by the wizard and the glowing magic sword held by the centaur. When I finished, I had four separate light sources that I painted in the diorama. In 2005, I entered the piece in the GenCon Indy painting contest and won 2nd place in the Diorama category, and 1st place in the Ral Partha/Iron Winds metal category. I hope you like my painting. Comments are always welcome.
