Hadriel Faceripper, Sorcerer of Chaos

Hadriel Faceripper was once Lexicanium Hadriel of the Brazen Claw chapter. His psychic talent was early to manifest and he was assessed as having great promise. But as Hadriel saw more junior Lexicaniae being raised to Epistolaries ahead of him, his psychic development seeming to have stalled, Hadriel became bitter and jealous. After a successful campaign against a Chaos cultist uprising on Byraha 4c, he concealed a mystical tome that he captured from the body of a cult leader and studied it in secret, seeking to advance his powers and re-ignite his rise to Chief Librarian. His efforts were rewarded, and Hadriel began to feature prominently in the chapter's after-action reports as a Librarian of growing potency... but increasing instability. When he was confronted with evidence of sorcery by Chief Librarian Mastrox, Hadriel slew his master and, facing capture and humiliation, opened a portal to the Warp and hurled himself upon the whim of the gods of Chaos. The tides of fate carried Hadriel to Abaddon the Despoiler, Warmaster of Chaos and now Hadriel bears his new master's heraldry. He still bears the force staff he wielded as a space marine. But now he has bound to it the skull of Madrox and the tome from which he draws his power. In battle, its fleshy pages form a fanged mouth with a foul, serpent-like tongue, unnaturally forked. The book whispers power to Hadriel, pressing ever further in his explorations of power and the Warp. It was one such encounter that led to Hadriel overcoming a Bloodletter of Khorne single-handed and bearing its still-writhing face upon his armour. It is said that he is touched by Khorne - a rare and exceptional blessing for a sorcerer and one that is distinctly double-edged. Hadriel Faceripper stands at the boundary between magic and bloodlust and none can say which way he may fall...

Cool paintjob. I like the book and the inner-side of that cloak. Pic too shadowy to see it well though.. Also cool background story, but one thing i found hard to digest was Khorne's association with any kind of sorcery :D

Your skill shows threw on this piece, real nice stuff. I would have ratted higher but either the pic is bad or it is just too muddy. the figure gets lost in his cloak

I'm not sure if the blurb helps the painting of the figure? but it's interesting. Great tabletop piece, you should be very pleased
