Elf Queen

Hi All, This would be my very first attempt at mini painting, kept studying lots of tutorials here and there and just kept at it and thus this was painted, obviously inspired by Jen's work of the same mini and mine definitely does not hold a candle to most of the work found here. I still haven't got the hang on blending and I think the OSL is a bit much, but that's just me. Have a look see and would very much appreciate any constructive criticism you can provide. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the input Papouille1. She actually has some highlights and shades but I guess due to lighting and camera settings, they didn't pop out as much as I'd like them to be. So, yes, I would need to make those more prominent in future projects. How does one know when the highlights and shades are 'just right' though? In comparison between seeing the mini in real life and in photos.

Very good first attempt, and quiet precise in painting details such as yellow linings around clothes. Improvements indeed in transitions, your colors are mosty mono-colors and will require more highlitening and darkness in the light handling towards the source of light, here zenithal. Therefore you have the accuracy in handling the brush point, now you can start exercising on lightings between the upper and bottom sides od each coloured surface and progresses will become spectacular!!
