Ghoul, my first mini (2006)
I wanted to show you what was my humble start with the miniature painting hobby back in the day. So this is it, not really impressive, eh? I picked the (old) ghoul blister because I just liked those scrawny corpse eaters. I suppose it's not a surprise because ghoul-like creatures can be found quite often in my art. I was also rather ambitious (or foolhardy) with my first painting project and tried to mimic very blue-hued night scheme. The date on the base's underside, "16.12.-06", is the precise day when I painted this ghoul. In the beginning I was very fond of drybrushing, and I literally painted everything with that technique. I was quite sure I would practice my drybrushing skills to a superior level and I would hit the competitions (surely a working plan...). I despised smooth blending/feathering because I was so sure it makes the miniatures look toyish. Anything toy-like or childish was such a turn-off back then. But as you might have seen, now I'm properly blending stuff and got rid of the "toy allergy". I think the most important thing was that I was very proud of my first miniature and it was an good atmosphere to continue in the hobby.
