This was my first attempt to paint a dark elf. I have to say the pose presented many challenges in painting and in photographing!

It looks like you're laying on the paint pretty thickly. Make sure that you've done a good job priming, let it dry thoroughly, and then paint with slightly thinned colors; that'll cut down on the "roughness" of the paint job.
