Captain Lysander

Hello, well here is my version of Captain Lysander. This miniature was painted as a Christmas gift for my father. Although he's never played or even heard of warhammer 40k or space marines for that matter I think he will still enjoy this *crosses fingers*. It did come from the heart after all ;) I basically painted this mini from start to finish in one day and have a few things still to finish i.e. hole near his foot. Thanks for looking. http://helgarshouseofminis.blogspot.com/

Love the backdrop and the overall scheme(though OSL needed on the base!), the color blending is great too. The OSL is a wee bit intense and falls quite intensely on areas it should be less intense on. Kinda hitting it with a thunderhammer there. ;) I think that the upper torso and shield could use a bit more definition. It appears like there is a lot of rust effect rather than highlight. Perhaps treat it more as an edge highlight the next time through and remember, blue light + yellow armor will probably have a dull green sheen to it until the light intensifies at the edges. It is a pretty awesome model and a great present!

Thanks for the votes, comments/critiques guys/gals. I do really appreciate them. Helps me learn and grow as a painter. This was my first true attempt at painting yellow and second time painting OSL on a weapon..so he was more or less my guinea pig. The base was originally planned on having OSL to compliment the hammer but I just couldn't get it the way wanted to look so just repainted it and pressed on. Foolishly I decided to make presents for my family and close friends and girlfriend. So in all I'm doing five miniatures in one month (I suck at planning ahead). For me that's a lot since I'm a slow painter and like to take my time. Maybe in the future I'll have another go at this miniature..he was surprisingly a lot of fun to paint. Thanks again & Merry Christmas!! :)

The thunder hammer lights seems odd, it lights the armor and the cape, but not on the ground. The base needs more work, but the mini is good.
