Tau Battlesuit, Oz Golden Demon finalist

Hey all, here's my latest finished work, it was an entry in the Australian Golden demon competition this year. He didn't place, only getting a finalist pin, but I'm still immensely proud of him. The standard of painting in the large monster category was amazing, with the slayer sword winning entry in my category, I can say that I was outpainted fair and square! I converted the model for this guy a while ago, but before i started painting him, there was some parts of the model that i really wasn't fond of, and had to convert again. Though i'm glad i made the modifications, because they tie into the whole tau look so much better. As for the painting, i've been really inspired by a couple of battlesuits that have been entered recently into other golden demon comps, that have a really strong OSL color as the main focus, and i wanted to try it out with a nice glow-in-the-dark green color that i found recently. I also went for a bit more subtlety in the armor for this entry, to go for more of a sense of realism, and while i think it's more real, it doesn't really stand out as much as it should have in the display cabinet. nonetheless, I really like this guy, and I hope you guys do too!

I love head and shoulder conversions! overall great look and feel for a tau! Personally I wouldn't have gone for metallic paint for the structural part but that's a matter of preference

very nice subtle highlights, and metallics are amazing.
