I'm a total beginner, but have caught the bug. :) This is my first post, and maybe my 10th mini. Any and all comments, especially pointers, are greatly appreciated! MClimbin ps: just noticed the sloppy wand :(

It looks like the entire mini was done using a drybrush technique. This is a great beginner technique and really good for painting quick gaming level minis (5-6) but you should start working on some other form of highlighting, either wet blending or layering. Layering is the best step for beginers... there are some great articles on here to get you started.

Another touchup to this mini could be to do a black line around the silver wand hanging from his belt. That will keep it from looking like it is bleeding into his robes. Overall, a very nice mini.

Aha, Thanks for the tip. I'll have to look closely at some owl photos to see how they are different.
