Chaos warrior / marauder Chieftian

I painted this chieftian with nurgle colours but still think the colour could be used in a undivided army. This model is my first experience using flesh wash and I really like it! The model is to be auctioned on ebay starting thrus. May 15/03 starting at .01 only! comments welcome!

The figure looks pretty good, but the basework detracts from the overall impression. The problem is a common one and can be observed in almost any Japanese monster movie ever made (You know: the buildings and ships look real, but the big water gives it all away). Natural materials do not "miniaturize" themselves. Whatever you glue to the base, you must paint it! The fine sand painted green to look like grass is good and would look even better if highlighted with a drybrushing of yellow. The big chunks of unpainted, undisguised sand, on the other hand, betray the scale of the model and, thus, look bad. Paint them to look like fist-sized chunks of rubble, or scrape them off entirely and add some more of that "grass." You could leave a "rock" here and there, but you'll have to paint it to give it the appearance it would have in the 28mm universe (even if it IS a real rock from our full-scale universe).

I scored you higher, because I really like the great weapon conversion, and I know how hard it is to hide the line where the arm meets the torso on these miniatures
