The 3 Hour Mini Challenge: Greatsword
I did this project for myself to see what am i capable of doing after 6 years o mini painting experience. The goal was to complete a model in 2 hours with best possible result. When I started painting i got an idea that 2 hours might be not enough so I extended it to 3, hehe :D ... then i came up with this: THE 3 HOUR MINI CHALLENGE I'm sure You all heard or take part in speed painting contest where You need to complete given model in 1 hour with best possible result. What I present You is not a contest - there will be no winners or prizes (except self satisfaction of course ;) ). This challenge also doesn't rely on speed that much - You can really do lots of things in 3 hours. The aim is to test Your abbilities and compare with others - take and give advices on how to "make things go faster". I hope everyone will benefit from this :) 1. General rules Challenge is open for every miniature painter, young or old, experience or a newcomer. You can participate as many times as You like. There are 3 hours given to complete a miniature, that includes basing but NOT preparing the model. So take your time, prime it good, make pins or whatever You feel needs to be done before You start. I know rules are made to be broken but try to be honest and don't exceed the time.:) Id You need to make a break every hour or so for a smoke or just because Your back is killing You can of course but try to make it a one, 3 hour session. 2. Choosing the miniature. As i don't have possibilities to provide everyone with the exact same model the choice belongs to You. Just try to choose a miniature that is not too complicated or too simple. I suggest a 28-32mm human size model. If You'd rather paint a goblin or a dwarf You might want to take something more complex lika a shaman or an engineer. 3.Advices Before You start prepare all the needed items. Choose colors for Your miniature and put away all other paints. Make some space on Your desk so You can sit comfortably for 3 hours. Modeling the base at first is a good idea. WHen You glue everything together don't wait till it dries - get started with Your mini. Also don't worry about any mistakes You make on the way or not so smooth blending - You'll make corrections if You have some time left. 4. Posting the pictures Post Your entry on CMON and give it a name of "The 3 Hour Mini Challenge: -name of Your model-" so it can be easly found. When You finish a model for this challenge or You have any questions please send me a PM here, on any forum I have posted this or via mail: raptaparat(at)poczta.onet.pl. Now go paint some! :D Good luck, Mike
