This is my first shot at uploading a pic on this site- I'm not new to painting but very new to digital photography and manipulating files- I think it may have come out too fuzzy but what the hey--
The gold on his baner lacks definition and he needs some highlighting on the tip of his nose, crest of his cheekbones, and top of his forehead. Also, it wouldn't hurt to darken it a tiny bit under his eyes.
I think you did a good job with the gray hair and I lik ehis bushy eyebrows. Also, are the letters on his book freehand? They look nice and kudos if they are. Although, I see some white around the letters that could be fixed up a bit, but that could be an effect of the light. Nice work on the base! I always have trouble figuring out what to put there. :)
The photo doesn't look unusually blury to me and he seems pretty well lit.
