Portal of Blood

AT LAST! Its always a good thing to finish long and arduous projects, but this one has been on my shelf and my mind for longer than most. This is mainly due to the sheer size of it and the thoughts that had go into its construction, meaning choice of materials, balancing it out, what tools to use etc. After I did a painting of Sanguinius defending Terra´s Ultimate Gate (shown above) the Bloodthirster on the pic just begged to be sculpted (more of this you could find with pic no. 217116, a W.I.P. pic with the unpainted sculpt). Normally after I finish sculpting a mini it takes a lot of time to begin painting but here, the strong visuals of a portal of blood without those striking red colour just wouldn´t make me rest content. So (Ta-Da!) it is ready now! Thank you not only for watching but also for any comments; Especially as these helped me immensely with finishing this little bugger! (As well, see pic no. 217116) By the way, as I made the eyes from glass to be lighted from inside, in this pic there is just the camera´s flash that makes them glow like a cat´s. Thanks again to you all and Happy painting!

Truly brilliant! I will certainly be ripping of the "pouring blood gives impression of floating" effect (although not as well, obviously). My only crit is that you left the base otherwise unadorned. Some rocks, ruins and sand would have just given the portal a bit of context.
