Arethusa, Nereid

The model is a just a bit (OK a lot) out of proportion, but I had a neat idea for putting her into a scenic display base. She was actually pretty fun to paint as it was a chance to push myself on the skin tones. The base was my first attempt for water effects, the water came out OK but the wooden block wasn't square which angled the tape that I used to edge the water so it's not even. I was trying to have the tree frame the scene to make a picture frame sort of effect; it worked to a point but it's a big tight, as it really limits the viewing angle. I either needed to use a bigger tree (it already won't fit in my display cabinets) or shadow box it to limit the angles you can view the scene from. The tree is various bits of trees pinned together with some sculpting on the joins, with brass photo-etched leaves (These look great but putting putty on the branches leading to them to flesh them out is a real pain).
