Standing Horse

This is my 3rd shot at painting, and I really would like to get feedback on it. I am trying out techniques that I've read, but I really need some direct feedback. Thanks...

The fabric looks off, like the previous commenter said you need another shade or transition colour on the fabric. It almost looks like you painted the blue and then sanded it down in places...

I'm not sure what techniques you are trying, but I'll critique the mini. It looks like you used 2 shades of all your colors. I think it needs more. The light blue highlights are very sudden and could be blended in better with a mix of the 2 blues. Same for the saddle, but the saddle isn't highlighted in the right places. You've done the edge but light from above would fall brightest right on top. Other than that I'd say work on a steady stroke. There's a place on the blue where the highlight jumps off the ridge and moves over to the next highlight. If you have a digital camera you may want to take pictures while working and look at it blown up on the computer to find flaws. Well done photo by the way.
