Thunderbolt Pilot

This was my open entry to GDLA. This is a tribute piece to Joseph Christopher Page, who was murdered in February of 2008. It will be presented to his mother when Meg (my girlfriend) goes back to visit for Christmas this year. Joe's favorite color was red....his favorite number was 15. If you look closely, you can see a note in the bottle. What does it say....I think Joe's mom knows. There are more pics in the discuss submissions forum. (the 15 is on the back of his helmet, not show in these pics. This was a fun piece to paint...the sculpt is just awesome. It was also my first time sculpting a crab and a bottle....and a wave. Hopefully I pulled it off halfway decent!

I'm really not a fan of huge overblown bases, however this one is an exception because I the sand and water looks so cool. It's rare to see water so well done.

Fantastic job and story. Sorry I missed seeing it at games day (got in late and the lighting on the minis that were still there was terrible (more like none existent). My only critical comment (which is a personal preference) is that I would prefer a less saturated tone of water.

Amazing piece and great tribute, you should be proud. The lyrics to "Message In A Bottle" are going in my head when i look at it :) "Just a castaway..."
