Siringit team Warthog, fantasy football player
I painted this Warthog from Impact! Miniatures as the display model for the Siringit team's debut at GenCon '08 last weekend. I got to paint a pre-release display figure because they were being painted on a volunteer basis, not the basis of talent or skill ;-) because Impact! needed them done before the convention! We were told to paint the player's kit in green and yellow in the style of the NFL's Green Bay Packers, but given free reign beyond that. I just wished I'd remembered to paint the claws/fingernails before I packed him up and shipped him out, as I was already pushing the deadline to return him to the company... oops! Also, I used a specific reference photo of an actual African warthog when choosing the grey-skin-and-orange-fur color scheme, but then the figure has a lot more fur than a real warthog does... I probably wouldn't paint him the same way again, but at least he's got a neat resemblance to Beastman, Skeletor's henchman on the "He-Man" cartoons! Impact!'s new Siringit team for their ElfBall fantasy football game is a team of beastmen based on the animals of the Serengeti plains in Africa. The entire team looks great, thanks to some excellent sculpting by Clint Staples, and should prove popular for ElfBall and for GW's Blood Bowl game as well. Impact! displayed the new team at GenCon this past weekend and they should be online in the store at http://www.impactminiatures.com any day now.
