Winter Dryad

Since the dryad's tree was leafless (and it was a hundred degrees most of this week) I thought I'd try painting her in winter colors--pale cool browns, indigo, purple, and aqua. Her original sword was traded for the staff with an 'ice' crystal. The pillar base is from Thomas Art Bases; I cut it down and added putty for the hillside effect.

Beautiful transitions in the skin. Limited colour palettes can accomplish so much!
