Manus Sanguis - Sgt. Aberland

The sergeant from the Space Marine squad. Converted from a veteran this one was painted to a higher standard then the rest. The main motive on the freehand banner was first drawn 2X size on a paper and then scanned in. You will notice that one wing is the mirror of the other, this was done in photoshop to make it look more computerised and less "drawn". The banner was then printed out to be painted. This also makes it possible both to make similar banners with subtle variations quite easily and for my client to paint similar banners if he wishes to add more units by himself in the future. Paintwise it was a bit of a challenge to do a miniature that would be similar to the rest but painted differently as I used slower and more methodical techniques. On the regular marines I for example used the GW foundation colours charadon granite, khemri brown and dheneb stone. These paints don't hold up for showcase quality painting (not what they were made for) so I instead mixed the same shades from other GW and Vallejo colours on this miniature. All in all I think it came out good and it also managed to win a local painting competition against some great miniatures! :) Vote and Comments appreciated! Sven

That´s strange, I thought I´d posted in here... well...^_^... I really like the realism your Miniature transports... great overall technique and result, good Texture and Ambience... The head, however, appears not too adequate to me... it looks very juvenile, one of the weaker Sculpts of GW... No at all fitting a Champion of Chaos... Nonetheless, well done... Great Mini...:)... 10 Points...

First impression: wow! The model looks great, and the banner as well. But, the banner just doesn't seem to fit with the model. And the gold is a little bit dull. But beside from that, that is indeed an excellent paintjob
