Cabin Boy

My 'Open' entry for Black Scorpion's 2008 Golden Chef painting competition. Which I was well pleased to win first place in!! - (I only started painting it a week before the extended deadline). This is a small figure of a cabin boy from Black Scorpion's cool range of pirate figures. The base is mostly plasticard with green stuff to bulk out the back & sanded round. The balustrade pieces I bought from a local hobby store. The barrels & crates I was given by a friend while the Cannonballs & the bucket are from the Warhammer empire cannon frame. The base was a pain to paint at first & I was concerned as to how it would turn out being pretty much all brown! - I tried to keep it as rich & warm as I could. The figure on the the other hand was very straight forward & enjoyable to paint & flew by!

You wouldn't happen to know the name of the hobby store? I'm working on a similar model and that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks! CN

Congratulations, it was a well deserved win. The final pic really shows the excellent detail you have done with the wood planking on the base.
