The battle damage was done in about 30 mins just to break up the main colours as I was painting them to my table top level I did not want to spend a day doing damage on them.Paint wise the yellow had over 25 layers(10 for the base coat along) though I did do 3 thick washes of browns after that as I wanted it to pool and look dirty.
I normal paint 4 parts water to 1 part paint. My first miniatures were at 2/1 then moved up to 3/1.Next month it will be 5/1, gives me a month or so working at a thinner level and learning how the paint works with so much water in it.
hmmm....I think these are pretty good. Always nice to see the fists, especially fists that dont look like panzies; batle damage and weathering was a nice touch (I presume orange is intended to be rust rather than shading).
I would really recoment you work on your battle damage realism: locations, distribution, and shapes (the center marine's right should pad looks like a metallic starfish, for example) and colors (while its good to use two colors for battle damage - chipped paint and then armor material beneath it - the black here is too harsh). My biggest problem is I can tell the paint is wayy too thick, it gives the marines a bubbly look. Or that could just be the lack of any sharp highlights.
dont get me wrong, however: nice work.
