Eternal Sorrow

My entry for round one of WYRD's Iron Painter V http://wyrd-games.net/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2113 ++++++ The Elves of Ulthuan suffered a most bitter and painful betrayal when many of their kin revealed themselves to be worshippers of the Dark Chaos Gods. During the ensuing civil war brother turned against brother and much of their home was destroyed; the northwest region of their land sank beneath the sea. It has grown into an eternal war against their fell kin. A constant vigil that must be kept. The sorrow and pain of their betrayal never allowed to heal, instead it is struck anew each time there is an invasion, each time a child is taken in the night, each time a black shape is seen on the horizon. No High Elf can ever be without this pain, this sorrow. It is part of their very being, permeating every aspect of their society. Truly, this is why they call it the blues. ++++++ On a technical note; believe it or not I used BLUE in everything on this model. Even the seemingly red gems have no red in them, but orange, brown, blue and black. And yes I mixed some blue ink in with the blood to darken it up! The greys and whites were done from a blue/grey base, the silvers have all had blue glazes and washes, the skin also washed with dark blue in the recesses. The brown pack and yellowish rune were also glazed with blue, albeit a very light one. Only thing not evident in the photo: The puddles of water about the place. It's a very grey, cold, wet mini and I put puddles of water all around. You can kind-of see them around the fallen shadow-warrior's bloody sword, under the feet of the standing shadow-warrior... but not well enough for my liking.
