It looks as if you're on the right track. There's some excellent conversion and modelling work here, as well as a good quality photo...though maybe it could be a little brighter. As for painting, it looks like your colours are getting a little muddled, especially around the face area. The uniform and rifle are nice, but it looks like the skin needs a little bit of work.
