The painting is nice. The armour is well-shaded (esp around the shoulders), and you've done a very good job on the kilt. I don't know if you've converted the model at all, but his head looks really big, and I'm no fan of the shape of that sword. As for the base, it's good, but there are a few fingerprints in the mud that would look better if they had been smoothed over. But the painting is very clean and well-executed.
I think the idea of the base is pretty cool actually. Maybe it just needs a plant or two or some debris? The mini is very nicely painted, the armour looks great and I really like the quality of the highlighting throughout the piece.
