Imperial Griffon

This mini is another “long-time-shelf-sitter” (hmm, this may get funny results read out aloud three times in a row…) of mine, as every time I post a “work in progress” the mini gets unconciously but invariably relegated to the lower end of my personal priority list…(hmm, perhaps something wrong with the way my mind works?) But having been a real pain in regard to scuplting the griffon (FEATHERED WINGS, I hated them, and it shows probably) it would have been a shame not to put some paint to it. In comparison to the W.I.P. Pic no. 154911, I added some minor things (banners, pennants and the griffon´s head&wing gear, for example) to give the mini a little more dynamism and colour. I hope you like it and really very much appreciate any comments, tips and criticism. Thank you for watching and Happy Painting!

I really like your style. I was so impressed that I went back to look at all your old pictures on this site (something I rarely do). You rock! Your dynamic use of banners, spikes or -- in this case, wings -- consistently captures a sense of movement and wonder. Your minis really "fill the space." By comparison, your painting seems more traditional. As an artist, I would like to see you paint the way you sculpt: surprising and fun. I actually like your wings, but I think they work better from the back. The white tips help separate the feathers. Maybe the underside of the wing would benefit from darker shadows? In any case, I'm a big fan. Keep them coming!
