Noble Salamander (Night Below)

Another D&D Miniatures mini; this one is the Noble Salamander. I removed him from the base and added a lava base; second time that I've done this and I think more successful here. I continued the hot lava motif on to the salamander himself, giving a hot-from-within look. The weapon was removed and rebuilt; it's supposed to be an obsidian spear. This was painted in September, 2007.

Would rate this one higher, but the spear really is a bit too basic. I think if you could have carried the obsidian theme through the handle, it would have been much better. As it looks now, it is a bit too simplistic. The shading is brilliant, the effect you were going for was achieved there. (I may get with you about the technique since I have a fiery skinned succubus commish in the que.)

How'd you sneak this one by me? Pretty good with the glowing from inside. But the spear has to go.
