Knight of the Realm

Firstly, thanks to Jenova, Reverend, Fredy and Chrispy for taking the time to help out by giving me some advice on metallics, as well as Vincegamer for helping out in particular with heraldry rules. Cheers. This model was a test really, and was painted for "the tabletop" as part of an army of knights. The freehand fish "charge" (symbol) was inspired by a seal in the book "Some Feudal Lords and their Seals" (Lord Howard De Walden 1903) and is a similar design found on an English seal from the 1200 - 1300's. I tried to get the fish "charge" onto the shield, but time constraints and annoyance at continual mistakes meant he became a "mismatched" knight with the Stag on his shield! I tried to make the model more "gritty and battle ready" by trying to get the colours subdued and almost "dirty looking". This has meant that the highlighting came out a bit too subtle for my liking and I am a bit disappointed in that, but I was really pleased with the barding around the horses head. Photographing it was incredibly hard and I ended up having a darker more washed out picture, to stop the metallics giving off too much glare in the light. Please post any thoughts / improvements you think of, as this is test model, and I hope to paint the whole army using similar techniques - ways to improve it would be great!

Blimey, if your whole army is going to be up to this standard you'll be laughing all the way! What strikes me is the cleanliness and the patience in making it so neat. Then the contrast sets it all off. Excellent, and I'll keeps me eyes out for more.
