Fiendish Gnoll

This is the Chainmail fiendish Gnoll. I painted him a few months ago, and he's one of my better from that time. Not the best . . . but not too bad. There are elements that I like and some that I don't. (Drybrushing, for example). I would like some input though. Be as brutal as you feel you need to be . . .

Ok, good brush control for a complement - its not sloppy or anything. But now you need to work on fine detail and paint application. The paint appears quite thick in many places - work on multiple layers of thin paint. Also, refine the "resolution" by detailing the details instead of just coloring them. The horns/claws are simply white, and the eyes are just red. The stuff on his waist is simply brown. Your painting will go to the next level when you start to refine the little things. This is a good effort, one that indicates you are well on your way to becoming an excellent miniature painter.

Good job on the sheild Start harnessing your skills with a purpose. By this I mean use your dry-brushing and highlighting with an idea of where the light is coming form. The black armor could use a highlight on the edges.Maybe a darker wash on the chain, and brighter highliights. Still pretty good all around skills.
