Black & White Explorer

After bytor started a forum discussion on monochrome painting, I just had to try it out. I used Yousuf Karsh's portrait photos as a reference for skin tone, to get the intensity of shadows right, etc. A good technical exercise and fun as well!

Curious how this would look if you now took the preshaded mini and painted it with layers of thinned paint. It looks good.

A 9 for trying it and a 7 for the finished project! Its obvious to me that you could do nmm since its pretty much just shades of grey, something you just did here. My only other suggestion is to shade the under brim of the hat more and around the top of the head more, since it looks like your light source is from above. (judging by the face).
