Daemonhost Mattaius

I think GW's Daemon host mini is really disturbing. So naturally, as soon as it was released, I made sure I got one... What I'm most proud of is the skin - there was a time not too long a go when I would have just painted it with a few layers and a bit of drybrushing. But I took a bit of time over this one. In response to some comments here on CMON I really watered the paint right down and build up layers. I used colours to get the desired effect - something that I have become very interesting in since the 'Frank Herbert's Dune' miniseries was released - it used lots of really wierd coloured lighting almost as another story element. Purples, greens, blues and reds are all subtly hidden in this miniature even if you can't see them they do effect the finished top coat. I decied to name him after an Atreides soldier in the book Dune - 'Mattai', plus an Imperial 'us' for good measure and to remind us it's the 41st millenium. As always comments speak louder than slightly comatose clicks, so tell me good, or bad, what you think. Thanks. Burzmali

So let me get this straight, Deadite...you gave him a lower score on his mini bacause of his grammar?! First off, I had no trouble understanding what he was talking about, and I didn't even see 'Dune'. I have to agree with Sippog's comment about this being from GW. This mini is amazingly creepy without any of their usual 'gaudiness' (NO bloody head! Incredible!). The paint job is superb and I assume whatever little bit of graininess you perceive is intentional, like it just crawled up from the earth. Well Done!

Might have been a higher vote had you taken the time to proofread your comments and fixed a few typos to make it easier to understand. The leather straps are good, but who can't do brown leather straps? Hopefully it's just the pic, but the skin and overall paintjob looks "grainy", like the spray undercoat "fuzzed", or the paints weren't thinned enough or were dirty.

I think I am impressed, but the image looks like a poster for a movie. It's really hard to tell.
