@Dan: good points, I don´t like the roots either and the lily pads look just like green circles because they are just green circles :). The ponds actually have a few layers of pva glue and gloss varnish but the photo makes it look dusty for some reason. I just noticed that in the middle picture there is sand in the foliage, I have no idea why :)

The ponds are ok, but they look really dusty :P You could've given them a wipe over with a damp cloth before you took the photo :) (Unless that's just the photo) - I would've give the ponds a layer of water effects or PVA or even just gloss varnish to make it look more realistic. For the lillys, Id'v used something as simple as come cut of circles of thin card of paper. The rest of the terrain is really good though.
