Princess

This was my entry into the Chick Challenge III. I ended up not having the time to get her really spiffy, so this represents about 3 hours all told (30 minutes here and there squeezed in). I was originally going to do her in solid green with the ermine trim, but someone said something to me that made me think she needed more. I'm not real happy with the fleurs-de-lis pattern, but the overall effect is pretty good. I painted the pattern on her standard base because I couldn't imagine the princess walking around outside where there are big rocks and unruly weeds. I tried to make her veil somewhat sheer. This is my first attempt at that effect, and it shows better in person but not much better. I'm thick skinned so any comments are appreciated.

The pattern on her dress is well done. I like the idea of her head cloth being transparent. The green wash is faint, but there. I think you used the wrong type of green though. I'd say what really need improving is her skintone. It looks too flat. And the masculine sculpted face doesn't help.

vince, outstanding! simple and effective, i like that in a paint job. your facial treatment is very apropriate, she looks demure, and stately, yet sheltered...blah blah blah art-geek talk. ;) you get brass balls points (+1) for trying a sheer veil. and the pattern on the dress is great in its design ,and execution. very nice. the base is a lovely touch too.

By shading I just mean the underlying color for the sheer effect.
