The model looks quite well painted. I'm not sure if you've already given it a coat of matt varnish but you may want to give that a try, you'll be surprised how it just seems to make all the colours "blend" together better, it takes the edges off the colour differences. As for the base have you considered mounting him on a rune stone of some sore, or a wheel or shield, so he looks like he's proud he's just conqured something. Nice work, hope to see him on his new base soon.
