Natalexi & Klunk painted by Mark Craggs

These heroic 28mm scale minis were painted for Newbold World by Mark Craggs specifically to be auctioned off as part of the Newbold Challenge. Mark has kindly donated the fees for this commission to the Challenge and along with the entire proceeds of this auction they will be paid over to Comic Relief on 1 April 2007. All good auction items have a little story of their very own and these two miscreants are no exception. About 18 months ago Alexi-Z displayed a super paintjob on a Newbold World mini called Natali on CMON. Her fantastic efforts were quite outrageously attacked by a guy called Klute and World War 3 broke out! Having something of a waspish sense of humour Ian Newbold commissioned up and coming sculptor and figure painter Mark Craggs (cough) to commemorate this international incident. Having a keen sense of fair play Ian told Mark that he could not make Natalexi unusually ugly nor Klunk exceedingly handsome. You can judge for yourselves whether or not Mark cheated! Needless to say neither of our characters are intended to bear any resemblence to any real or imaginary people. In her own imperious manner Alexi has already instructed Ian to drink poison for his part in this schoolboy prank! So we hope you like our two life-long antagonists just enough to put in a small bid for them of your own. So far the Challenge has raised almost £3,500 GBP (around $7,000 USD) and we'd like to push that figure a bit higher if we can. :-)

Hi A & M. Yes there is a dash of wicked humour here but there is also intended to be a tiny bit of symbolism. Despite their well publicised differences both Alexi & Klute have given magnificent support to the Challenge and the good causes it is trying to help. It's a tiny bit of magic really. Be great if we had a bit more in the world! :-)
